Starting a Girls Who Code Club
Limited Capacity seats available

Technology is changing everything about the way we live and work. Computing skills are the most sought-after in the US job market, with demand growing 3X the national average — but girls across the US are being left behind. Today, less than a quarter of computing jobs are held by women, and that number is declining. Girls Who Code, the national non-profit dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology, is working to reverse the decline. Last year, we reached 90,000 girls in all 50 states with the help of our free Clubs program. In this workshop, we will provide you with an interactive coding lesson, as well as more information about our Clubs programs and how to launch one in your school or district.

Information Security 101- Protecting Yourself from Cyber Pirates
Limited Capacity seats available

Today the threat of cyber attacks are more real than ever, these attacks range from complicated and highly organized attacks on serious security vulnerabilities all the way down to simply digging through dumpsters. One of the most concerning threats is commonly referred to as "Social Engineering", these cyber criminals take advantage of flaws in the way people behave to deceive targets and obtain sensitive information which can later be used for various unethical purposes. One type of Social Engineering is known as Phishing. Phishing attacks will commonly simulate sensitive or important emails to trick their targets into doing something which could result in a potential compromise. Teachers have access to such a significant amount of sensitive data and many lack the training which is found in the corporate environments making them the perfect target for a Phishing attack. This presentation will look at effective methods to Identify, Respond to, and finally Protect yourself from Phishing attacks. It will also contain a demo which shows just how convincing and dangerous these attacks can be. Along with that, there will also be a discussion on previous cases of successful Phishing attacks in various education environments, what affect they had on the school, how they were handled, and finally what could have been done differently.
